One Continuous Thread: Home Practice Intensive—April

This is an online sesshin format designed for people who can't attend a residential retreat — or who prefer to practice at home. Rather than the typical week-long residential model where you arrive at a monastery and sit in silence from 4am to 9pm, this retreat lets you join live practice periods and teachings over webcast while keeping your own schedule and meeting your daily obligations.

The structure mirrors a formal sesshin: you'll have scheduled zazen (sitting meditation) periods to sit with the group in real time, access to teachings, and the rhythm of intensive practice. But you're in your own space, which changes the container significantly. There's no communal dining, no kinhin (walking meditation) with others in the zendo, no physical dokusan. What you get is the discipline and support of group practice without the immersion.

This works best if you can carve out consistent time each day — ideally morning and evening — to sit with the webcast. The live element matters; it's the difference between watching a recording and practicing alongside others in real time, even through a screen.
