One Continuous Thread: Home Practice Intensive—January

Soto Zen

Soto Zen online zazen sesshin beginner-friendly

Six-day online zazen intensive designed for home practice. Participants join Zen Mountain Monastery's sesshin via live webcast, adapting the formal schedule to their own daily life and commitments.

About this retreat

This retreat bridges formal sesshin practice and home life. Instead of traveling to the monastery for a residential sit, you stay home and tune into Zen Mountain Monastery's live webcast of their sesshin schedule. It's useful if you want the structure and support of a group intensive without stepping away from family, work, or other responsibilities for a full week.

A home practice intensive trades some things — the momentum of silence in a room full of sitters, the pressure of commitment that comes from being on-site — for flexibility. You'll need to set your own boundaries: turning off notifications, carving out time for zazen periods (sitting meditation), honoring the schedule as much as your life allows. This works best if you have a quiet space and the ability to show up consistently across the six days.

At $10, this is a dana-based (by-donation) offering, making the cost itself negligible. The real commitment is attention.
