All Day Sitting with Everyday Zen
with Zoketsu Norman Fischer·Soto Zen
All-day sitting with Everyday Zen teachers at Green Gulch Farm. The schedule includes zazen, silent lunch, a Dharma talk with discussion, and dokusan. Led by Zoketsu Norman Fischer and Senior Everyday Zen Dharma teachers.
About this retreat
Everyday Zen is a lineage within Soto Zen that emerged from San Francisco Zen Center's teaching. Zoketsu Norman Fischer is one of its primary teachers. This all-day sit follows a traditional format: periods of zazen (seated meditation), a silent meal, individual dokusan (private meetings with a teacher), and a Dharma talk with time for questions.
Green Gulch Farm, where this retreat takes place, is SFZC's residential practice center in Marin County—a working farm and retreat space. The all-day structure gives you a taste of sesshin rhythm without the multi-day commitment: you'll sit several periods in the morning and afternoon, have a chance to meet one-on-one with a teacher, and hear teaching that connects practice to daily life. Bring cushion preference (zafu or bench) if you have one; the center has supplies. Arrive by 8:45 am for orientation.
