All Day Sitting with Everyday Zen
with Zoketsu Norman Fischer · Soto Zen
All-day silent sitting at Green Gulch Farm led by Zoketsu Norman Fischer and Everyday Zen teachers. Traditional schedule of zazen, silent lunch, Dharma talk, and dokusan.
About this retreat
Everyday Zen is a Bay Area lineage within Soto Zen known for bringing traditional practice into contemporary life. This all-day sitting follows a straightforward format: periods of zazen (sitting meditation) separated by kinhin (walking meditation), a silent meal at noon, a Dharma talk, and the opportunity for dokusan—a private meeting with the teacher. The day provides a contained taste of sesshin practice without the commitment of a multi-day retreat.
Zoketsu Norman Fischer is the founder of Everyday Zen and brings decades of teaching experience. Green Gulch Farm, the center's location in Marin County, sits on farmland and offers a quiet, grounded setting for practice. Even if you've never sat a full day before, this is a structured, accessible entry point.
