Weekend Meditation Retreat
Zen
Weekend sesshin at Austin Zen Center, November 16–18. Silent residential retreat with zazen, kinhin, and instruction in the Zen tradition. Open to practitioners of all levels.
About this retreat
A standard weekend sesshin format—three days of silent practice in a residential setting. Expect a traditional schedule of zazen (sitting meditation) and kinhin (walking meditation), with instruction for those newer to the practice. Austin Zen Center offers a straightforward entry point for exploring seated Zen practice without a long-term commitment.
The retreat runs Friday evening through Sunday. No prior experience required, though familiarity with basic zazen posture and etiquette helps. If you're considering your first sesshin, a weekend retreat is a practical way to understand what the practice looks like in real time—the silence, the schedule, the communal rhythm—before committing to longer sits.
